See, this is exactly what I was talking about in yesterday's notes. It's pretty much all Petey in the first two squares, typical of himself, being completely baffled and uable to react to the stress of having his self-imposed low-level standards be kamikaze'd like that. But his eagerness to accept Dannee's generous offer is very uncharacteristic of him down the line. Remember when Petey got his cellphone and decides to dump it because he can't deal with the societal pressures of it? How can he just wantonly blurt out a yes to such a proposition without his usual psychosis-level fear of being ridiculous when an inanimate object stresses him out to the point of anxiety?
For the sake of the joke, and for the sake of getting me where I wanted it to go, it was the perfect reaction. But you can tell that Petey's personality was not that polished thing of beauty which it turned out to be in the end of the run.
