Good old socially inept Petey. Obviously he's still in his embryotic phase here, since I was still flopping about to find the best direction for the character. It became more and more obvious that Petey was your basic inadequate loser, but to what extent was still up in the air. When I re-read the entire strip to do the re-editions, I realised just how sympathetic Petey was. I mean, I really liked Petey. But reading these first strips just showed many inconsistencies with the guy I ultimately wanted him to be. The fact that he's a quivering mess here as he talks to Dannee is right into character. Although I'm not sure tomorrow's episode would be consistent with his M.O.
