Reading lots of webcomics is good when you want to keep up with current trends, see what others are doing, and see how the form is developing. It’s bad when you’re convinced that what you’re alone in the world doing the type of comic you’re doing.
Finding comics like Look What I Brought Home and Flem, among others, kind of started to make me realise that what I was doing wasn’t so special, that being edgy and crude wasn’t all that novel. Funny how it hadn’t donned on me before that someone else could have come up with the same idea I had, with the same illumination that the Internet allowed such uncensored nonsense.
I started fleshing out Horse a little more as a character, installing him quietly as a big loud loser instead of just an obnoxious, vulgar macho idiot. I would try my best to fall back on my writing and stand out thanks to that.
One of the very best AWR's.
