However, I tend to agree with Mike: status quo is not acceptable and this is basically what the subcommittee is proposing. What we have here is yet another opportunity missed and a classic example of political cowardice fuelled by geriatric Puritanism and fear of public controversy. So very sad. Even worst, I think the government is only going as far as the general public is currently ready to let them. It would have taken courage and vision: this is not an issue a government want to tackle (especially a conservative one) when a potential election might be looming on the horizon.
