Unrelated to anything webcomic-like, I came across an amusing little bit over at Fast Company, the business magazine aimed for young businesspeople. It had a list of the six jobs the FC staff predicts won’t be around anymore in 2016.
- “Gatekeepers,” as in TV schedulers, Wall Street researchers, cool hunters, and so on. As the article says “As punishment, now it’s our turn to ram stuff down your throats.”
- Bloggers. And how!
- Advertising creatives. I know a few of these tiresome jokers, who basically just sit around and come up with concepts for ads. They don’t do sales, they don’t direct the advertisements. They’re just overpaid marketing degree holders who come across as creative because they wear striped shirts to work and sport a fauxhawk. I’m still surprised some of these people are getting paid, actually.
- Auto mechanics. Actually, the copy states that the greasemonkey is going to need a makeover now that more and more cars run on software. The conventional car mechanic is doomed.
- US high-tech jobs. Ba-zing!
- Indian call-center operators. Apparently they feel that the outsourcing to India is going to stop and return to the US. I beg to differ. It may move from India, but it will end up somewhere else.
