What Will Moko Swallow 8

Cookie Monster has always been my favourite Sesame Street Muppet. I’ve always adored him. His drive for eating cookies blinds him to everything, even to achieving a better grasp of syntax and verb tenses. He is linear, yet layered, comedic, yet tragic, a true antihero for whom we cheer for when he caves into his cravings. He is a creature in which we recognize our failings. Imagine the disappointment when many years later I turn on the television and see that Cookie Monster had now taken to eating vegetables and fruit, because some parent’s group somewhere thought that his eating nothing but cookies was a bad influence on children, since a show like Sesame Street should be teaching better eating habits. Yeah, of course, forget about teaching kids on how to be kids and just have fun, laugh, and be goofy. Let’s make sure that our children tow the line real, real soon. Edutainment before plain fun. Sometimes I think we adults are so bitter about having left childhood so quickly we won’t allow our kids to make the most out of the short span of time they have before we start asking them to make class choices oriented towards their career.

Hey, the Wikipedia entry is HUGE. I’m amazed. Seems to me every day I check there’s something new. Work has started on character summaries, and I think it’s Gluemeatie Personman who added that Moko browser you kids have clamouring about. It’s really something to see, but what’s great is that it’s a true Gluemeatie project with folks working together to do something cool. There’s just one thing I need bring up: the entry says that I’m in a mock feud with BoxJam. Who ever said it was a “mock” feud? The guy’s a jerk and I wish he had boils instead of eyes.

I am on the front page! Me! Meeeee! Wahooo!! I cannot help but think that maybe, somewhere, my contribution to the wiki entry had something to do with the serendipitous appearance of this comic mere hours later, but of course I may be deluded. Nevertheless, the comic is awexcellnce in its purest form, and makes me happy to boot. Also they are standing on a canteloupe. Whee!
