My Name Is BoxJam

Meaty.

Yes, fellow Gluemeaties! Here is my very first dabbling into Macromedia Flash! Many thanks to Adam of Simple 7 for working out the final code issues for me, but I have to say, this was fun! And what better subject to go after than that no-good BoxJam, especially after going on the Glueboard and insulting you, my Gluemeaties, calling you “jerks!” No, I couldn’t stand for that, especially since the image which prompted such a reaction is NOTHING compared to the defamation he performed.

Oh… wait…

Were you… were you expecting the 500th comic today? Oh… um… man, this is awkward. I mean, obviously this isn’t a comic, it’s a… it’s a Flash animation, so it’s not the 500th comic. I mean, I never said that Monday was the day. In Friday’s news post, I said the next comic you will see will be the 500th. And this isn’t a comic. I mean, I had BoxJam thing planned for a while now, and it kind of all came together real quick-like… it’s not as if I intentionally want to milk this 500th comic thing for a couple of more days… that is so not my style.

I’m sorry you all misunderstood me. I promise you this in very clear terms: this coming Wednesday, April the 13th, will be the 500th Gluemeat comic. See you then!

    WHAT A GREAT DEATH! HAHA!

    (?)

  2. by Gemini6Ice:

Also, does the flash format exclude it from beyond considered a “strip”? Are you using a technicality on us, Case? If so, bravo. Technicalities are my pantheon.

  3. by Sev:

Breaking news trumps scheduled programming, even if the scheduled programming is the death of a character, or if the breaking news is that Boxjam has misogynistic tendencies.

Hrm… as amusing as that was, I think I missed something.

I had read Boxjam’s archives about a month before gluemeat’s… followed the link from there actually.

Whot I don’t get is whot’s up with the two. Is it some sort of publicity stunt? Just generally annoyed at each other for something stupid? Or were the quebecquois involved? I’ll bet it all started back when boxjam tried to invaid canada…

But anyways, anyone else have any clue whot’s actually going on or is it just a reverse publicity dealie to confuse readers into reading both? Since really, if yeu check it out they have links to each other constantly up, and the “This guy sucks, don’t follow THIS LINK HERE” thing seems like it’s probably just an odd thing to draw attention to both.

Could be wrong too of course, but anyways, whot’s the deal?

I have it on Case’s confidence that Boxjam, aka, Gunter Krankenkopf, indeed sucks the big one, and that the world needs to agree with him on that one point. Read TF, it’s all in there, all that politico stuff are thinly veiled attacks on the ‘Jam’s way of life. I can only conjecture that Boxjam, aka Bup, must feel the same way about the Meat. Both men are still clearheaded and openminded enough to want others to go to their opponents webcomic, to see what drivel the other one publishes. They think, that once you click on that link, you will never want to go to that URL ever again.

This hanger’s on opinion is that Bup, who was once the master, has been outshadowed by Yorke, the learner, and now that Yorke can claim to be the master he wants to get his comeuppence, if you will, the ability to strike down his former master, but in doing so, only make him more powerful than Case can ever imagine.

    Katsuni–

A publicity stunt? That’s an absurd opinion! It’s no less than pure, cold-blooded hatred. It’s so cold-blooded in comes in BLUE! Seriously!

  7. by Katsuni:

Not to be rude to either artist, since I do know it’s painfully difficult work to do a webcomic, especially one which updates frequently, but I’d have to say that, for the record, both have declined somewhot in quality lately.

Perhaps it’s running out of material due to being used up, perhaps it’s just the sands of time causing them to mature a bit so that their styles change a bit, but I’ve noticed that the comics seem to be a bit less frequent and a bit less amusing as of the past year or so in both cases.

Though that’s merely my opinion as well; boxjam’s suffered this more noticibly, and no longer even seems to do the garbage bag jokes anymore which were a favorite. Gluemeat’s probably the better of the two currently, but I think if yeu consider the overall archives that boxjam’s probably better in general, or at least was in the past.

Once again, just my opinion, and I suppose this’s probably a poor choice of places to say so (poor artists having to listen to an actual complaint, sorry! ) but it is one I think that might hold some validity.

Not sure where things went wrong, or if it’s just the more recent ones’ humour style is less fitting to my tastes or something, but one thing I’d suggest both do regardless of how they care for each other currently, is to go back and look at the first 300 comics or so worth of both their work and compare it to their most recent 10 that were done, and see if they can spot which parts have become better and which have fallen a bit.

Of course that takes alot of time, which’s something a cartoonist has little of… in any case, I don’t mean that as a complaint, merely an observation.

Besides that though, whot’s this “read TF, it’s all there” thingie? TF is… where? Is there a link?

Oh and for whot I meant about the publicity thing… I know I wandered over to see gluemeat after seeing repeated messages about it on boxjam.

The overall tone of it almost sounds like it could be playful teasing rather than cruel hatred. Perhaps that’s just that they both have a sense of humour, but it does come off looking more as something that doesn’t seem entirely truthful and may be being used just as a sneaky way to advertise both sites incredably well.

Of course… if yeu never hear from me again, I suppose that’ll also mean that they don’t like me giving away secrets and have sent ninjas after me >.>

I don’t know though really… while it looks on the surface to be bitter, it also just hints somehow that it’s not really serious either.

Of course they’d deny it either way since admitting to something like that being used as an admittedly very clever plot would kind of ruin it so it doesn’t work anymore, as well as tarnishing credibility on both their parts, so of course neither would admit to that even if it were true.

    Both seem crafty enough to actually pull a stunt like that… can’t say I don’t believe they might actually do it ^^;;

A link to Tasteful Future is in the Importantitude box.

I went over to Case’s dinner party the other week (the one he held in West Vermont, just across the street from where Burger Shack used to stand in the early ’98s), and he spent the entire second course bitching about BoxJam instead of enjoying the wonderful casserole that his girlfriend made. Trust me, Case truly believes that BoxJam likes only lasgna. “Boxjam and his eggplant Lasagna!” Case mumbled the entire time. He was barely savoring the wonderful casserole. And truly, that casserole was truly wonderful. I’d even go as far as to call it tasteful casserole.

Apparently, the TimeCube guy also says that when it is day 1 for BoxJam it is day 2 for Case Yorke, and the Clintons live here and Tupac lives in noon on day 4.

  10. by BoxJam:

    I admit it! It’s all a sham! A rouse! A mackerel! A jackal! A speedo!

    We truly love each other!

  11. by Katsuni:

Aha… the other option rears its’ head!

They admit to it just because it wasn’t a listed option! Of course had I listed that option it wouldn’t've worked >.>

I don’t even know if I tricked him into it or tricked myself anymore. I’ma go lay down now and pretend that made any sense at all.

  12. by ESH:

I love that Timecube guy. Potentially bright lad, I thought.

  13. by yesdnil311:

I’m just saying…if I really hated another person with all my heart and soul, I just would pretend like they were non-existent. I mean really, they link to each other practically every day, and I think they find humor in the fact that some of us actually start disliking the other comics as a result. It’d be like me being like…goddamn chick tracts are the worst thing ever! Never go there! Here’s the link: http://www.chick.com I mean honestly, who throws a shoe?

  14. by TN:

Remember, all boxjam does is lie. Except when he’s talking about his eggplant lasagna.

As for the comics getting stagnant, I disagree. The focus of both comics has changed over the past years, but how could they not , considering they’ve both run for such a time; especially the doodle. It is my humble opinion that the Doodle has become zestier with age. The doodle’s jokes have become increasingly abstract and incisive, possibly due to the circumstance-imposed once a week update. Boxjam has a lot of time now to craft his jokes. As for Gluemeat, I don’t think it’s ever been funny, so I don’t know how to compare the newer ones to the older ones, they all seem to fail bigtime where humor is concerned. I just don’t get it. I only hang out here because I got kicked outta the Choppingblock forum for not being Goth/Metal enough. Plus Yorke pays me in pickle flavored dorritos. I just don’t get his comic. ‘cept for that one time where he had Megaman as a character, I mean, I don’t understand what he was trying to do, but 8 bit sprites are hiiiiiiilllarious.

  15. by Gemini6Ice:

I think yesdnil is admitting to being friends with Jack Chick?

  16. by TN:

But, yesdnil, if you wanted to convince someone who has never heard of jack chick why they are so bad, the best way would be to send them to their site and show that person or persons how bad said product was. Clearly ‘Jam and Case so hate each other that they want you to go to the other’s site to point and laugh at them. Or maybe it’s a clever attempt to increase the other’s bandwidth usage, thus making them have to pay more money, thus making them have no money to spend on groceries, thus starving them to death.

  17. by Gemini6Ice:

    Starve to death‽

I sure hope Case doesn’t die in the 500th comic!

  18. by Lauragorn:

I think I’d rather starve to death than eat pickle flavored doritos.

  19. by Sev:

    Fool! Kneel before Pickle-Flavored Doritos!

  20. by Lauragorn:

Nuh-uh… Salsa Verde Doritos reign supreme.

  21. by Sev:

I’m pretty sure Bob’s Salt And Vinegar beats the hell out of everything.

“…the most sincere and witty webtoon out there. It’s sometimes testing, sometimes touching, but always fun.” - Case Yorke. that’s on boxjam’s site. if you read aren’t we real Case states his likery of the boxjam. I SMELL A COVERUP!!! I also found this site from boxjam, btw. haahahahhahaha, I reaveled the conspiracy. I may have just ruined the fun!!! I’m such a jackass!!!

I know they’ve made up and all that jazz, but I still think this is great.
